Our Horses
Stallions
Hopstone Shabdiz
Shabdiz (Palang* x Khorshid Kola*) is the real old gentleman of our Caspian stud. He loves the show-ring and has been breed champion many times and represented the breed at numerous occasions including Royal Ascot. Shabdiz is the oldest member of our Caspian family at 28yrs old but has foals due this year and will be standing at stud again this season. He has sired over 50 foals including the much admired Supreme Champion at the 2008 CBS (UK) show, Henden Shabette, as well the Supreme Champion at this year's show, Henden Shilpa. Shabdiz was broken to ride as a youngster and throughout the years has given many hours of pleasure to his numerous jockeys. Standing at 12.2hh he represents the largest Caspian line and is the ideal stallion of choice for breeding the bigger performance Caspian or for those wanting to obtain the desirable Caspian traits when crossing with mares of a larger breed of horse or pony.
Henden Wenceslas
Henden Wenceslas (Henden Stephen x Henden Regina) is a very special member of the stud. Born in 1991 he is the grandson of the striking foundation stallion Mehran and like his grandsire, Wenceslas is typical of the "arab" type of Caspian with his flowing mane and tail and dished head. Wenceslas stands at 11.2hh and was Adult Champion and Reserve Supreme Champion at the CBS(UK) 2008 show.
Henden Troy
Standing at 13hh Henden Troy (Hopstone Shabdiz x Persicus Khoshgel Khanum) is our largest stallion. However, he still has much of the air and grace that typifies the breed and his amenable temperament has been soundly demonstrated by Holly Dale, a student from the Royal Veterinary College and family friend, who broke him in to ride during her stay here last summer. This was undertaken in only 2 weeks, and he went on to win 2nd place in both the Open Ridden and Stallion classes at the Caspian Breed Society (UK) show 2008 held annually here at the stud. Troy is 5 yrs old this year and is part of plans for future shows, after proving such a popular attraction at "Your Horse Live", and is fast gaining a reputation to match his stature.
Henden Noah
Born in 1991 Noah (Hopstone Shoja x Henden Nicola) is the son of probably the most succesful Caspian ever bred in the UK - Hopstone Shoja. At only 11hh he is of the smaller type, but like his father he is a miniature horse rather than a pony. One of Noah's greatest attributes is his fantastic temperament. He is calm and willing even at the height of the covering season making him an ideal sire for a children's riding pony.
Henden Basil
Basil (Forstals Barewa x Persicus Khoshgel Khanum) is a stunning equine with an interesting character. He has no malice with either humans or his mares but has always preferred not to be handled directly. Basil is 11 yrs old and has sired a good number of foals none of which have taken on his aloofness. Basil is out of the Iranian mare Persicus Khoshgel Khanum and by probably the widest used Caspian stallion Forstals Barewa to which he bears a striking resemblance. He stands at 11.3hh and is a valuable member of our stud.
Persicus Nicky
Nicky (Sohrab* x Khorshid*) was imported from Iran as a yearling in 1994. He was part of the last shipment of Caspians that came into the UK from Iran. Nicky is mellow in temperament and is the epitomy of the miniature thoroughbred. With his long fine limbs and a beautiful kind eye many judges have classed him as being a very correct small horse. Nicky stands at 11.3hh and is a popular choice of stallion particularly for the slightly heavier mares.
